In wind farm substations, reactive power management is critical to staying within the grid’s operating limits. Having transferable spare shunt reactors gives the system greater resilience to contingencies, maintenance, or rapid changes in loading.

The spare shunt reactor transfer cubicle supplied by Alltec to Siemens Energy, bound for Poções III in Bahia, Brazil, was designed for:

  • safe transfer between main and spare reactors;
  • preservation of protection selectivity;
  • minimization of operational risks;
  • compatibility with modern substation architectures, interconnecting Neoenergia’s Lot 2 project.

Engie is the largest private power producer in Brazil, with very high technical standards and modern, safe equipment. Accordingly, the supply had to measure up.
